I thought I'd start a new thread and see what gives.
This is about funny moments when swimming practice or in a race. I have one that comes to mind.
I was swimming a 400 IM (years ago), and was starting the breaststroke leg of it. Right after I made my first turn and surfaced, there was a gal swimming breastrstroke in my lane coming right for me. I thought I had somehow changed lanes on the turn, so I went under the lane lines and got in the empty lane.
She had made the mistake, not me, but I ended up getting her time and she got mine. But it made no difference; they DQd both of us.
Moral of story: swim in your own lane at all times.

A young boy I coached was kind of new to swimming and....bless his heart, he was not very bright. The group was huge that night and maybe we assumed he knew more than we should have. The team was doing a set with fins. We looked up and he was trying to swim with the fins on his hands. It was hard to keep a straight face when we had to tell him the correct way to use fins. :D
