I thought I'd start a new thread and see what gives.
This is about funny moments when swimming practice or in a race. I have one that comes to mind.
I was swimming a 400 IM (years ago), and was starting the breaststroke leg of it. Right after I made my first turn and surfaced, there was a gal swimming breastrstroke in my lane coming right for me. I thought I had somehow changed lanes on the turn, so I went under the lane lines and got in the empty lane.
She had made the mistake, not me, but I ended up getting her time and she got mine. But it made no difference; they DQd both of us.
Moral of story: swim in your own lane at all times.

I seem to be forever destined to the "slow lane." A lot of the new swimmers start out in my lane, then graduate as they get faster.
Some years ago there was a new guy who had been coming to swim practice fairly regularly. One day after work I stopped at the grocery store near the pool where we swam. I was in the produce section when I saw a guy who looked somewhat familiar. He was looking at me, too, as if to try to place me.
Finally I realized it was the new guy from the pool. I said, "Oh, hi. I didn't recognize you with your clothes on."
There was a woman standing nearby, close enough to hear what I said. She gave us a strange look.
The guy never came to the pool again.
