You will be swimming in the same pool where I spent the glorious years of 1967-68 under coach Pataky. However, I was in the B-team, and being slow they stuck me in the 100 fly and the 200 I.M. Many years later, tomorrow, I will be swimming the 50 meter fly, because at 55 there aren't that many guys willing to swim the butterfly. Alas, those years at McCallie are finally paying off. I remember a nice pool at the University of Chattanooga, or University of Tennesse at Chattanooga, whatever...Stan Corcoran e-mails me stuff about the swim team from McCallie. billy fanstone '68
Billy,
You swam in the old pool? The one that had walls so high, that you built muscles climbing out of it?
Coach Pataky is a nice fellow. I swam for McCallie for a few years before transferring over to Baylor. I know... I know, traitor. But Baylor turned out to be a better fit for me.
If you are back in town, drop in for practice sometime. The pool McCallie has now is nice.
Go Big Red!

I saw the new gym, but didn't know they had changed or renewd the swimming area. I swam in the old Davenport pool. It was hot and full of chlorine and we didn't have goggles back then. I was in Chattanooga in 1998 for a reunion and I think I stopped by driving from Mississippi to Asheville and then on to D.C. in 2000. You know, a couple of months ago, I was goofing off on the internet and found the Baylor site. What a beautiful place you have! I probably went there once or twice but didn't remember well. I played in the band so I went with the football team and I guess we probably swam over there. But I was a kid. Today I can see the beauty of your campus, as well as recognize how McCallie was and is a great school. I am zillions of miles removed from you. I live in the middle of Brazil, about 100 miles southwest of Brasilia. Of course if I get back to Chattanooga, I guess for the reunion in 2008, I will try and meet with you. Take care, billy fanstone
Meredith,
Welcome to the area. There is a master's team that practices at the McCallie School on Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat. morning.
The coach of the team is Stan Corcoran. He is also the McCallie coach. You can reach him at (423) 629-9914 or (423) 493-5536.
Hope to see you soon.
John
