As I was browsing around for articles on tonights Bengals/Ravens game I ran across this article and this quote.
www.msnbc.msn.com/.../
"I mean, this isn't a soft sport. We don't play chess. This isn't swimming. This isn't one of those kind of sports. It's football. It takes a man to play this game, and to play this game you have to have passion.''
I had to laugh.
Yes, you are correct, you are indeed wrong.
How many swimmers can run a sub 5 second 40?
You are correct, you are indeed wrong. Swimmers can run. I would concede that swimmers don't get timed in a lot of 40s. I don't believe that's an actual USATF race distance... It's just some special little fast dash training that football specialists engage in to help with the "nuances" of their sport. (Sorta like us doing 12.5 yard sprints for sprint training.) But I'm quite certain swimmers could hold their own in many other distances. Do football players ever run the mile or a 10K for time? I think that triathletes and aquathloners and even recreational swimmer/runners do ... Whoops, I know you hate triathletes because they're using heart rate monitors to make sure they're getting actual exercise. ;) And don't give me any crap about these guys not actually being "swimmers." Lots of multi-sport folks were/are former/current swimmers.
