After being out of the pool for 22 years, 3 months ago I decided to start up again. I would like to be able to continue the enjoyment I've found and maybe, just maybe, ease back into competing...for fun this time.
Since I don't swim with the masters team (timing doesn't work) right now I'm by myself, swimming light workouts 3 days a week. I've worked up from 30 minutes to 45, and 1 hour is next. I'm up to about 2700 yds.
I looked at the event calendars in the USMS site and found some challenges...Check-Off, 30-Minute, Virtual Geographic and the Brute Squad Postal Event. All of them look like a lot of fun and a great way to stay inspired without having to trek to a meet.
Since I don't swim with a coach I figure this is the best way to ease back into this.
Thoughts? Other ideas?
BTW, this site was one of the first places I've come to, and having stayed and lurked. I've enjoyed the discussions and feeling of community that I've found here. Thank you for that!

I say WOW to your 2700 yds in less than hour. I can only do about 2000 in about hour. I'm a sprinter so I don't know if that makes a difference. Sounds like your doing awesume though...
I'm my own coach also, trying to work on endursance and so forth.
I finally have my 50's down pretty well to start doing them with less time inbetween. Currently this is my 100's month, my 100's need more work, trying to get them to flow better like my 50's.
Did my first 500 yds warm up non stop last week, going to keep after that one for a while. I do 50's 100's free and back, 100's IM.
