Newbie finding inspiration

After being out of the pool for 22 years, 3 months ago I decided to start up again. I would like to be able to continue the enjoyment I've found and maybe, just maybe, ease back into competing...for fun this time. Since I don't swim with the masters team (timing doesn't work) right now I'm by myself, swimming light workouts 3 days a week. I've worked up from 30 minutes to 45, and 1 hour is next. I'm up to about 2700 yds. I looked at the event calendars in the USMS site and found some challenges...Check-Off, 30-Minute, Virtual Geographic and the Brute Squad Postal Event. All of them look like a lot of fun and a great way to stay inspired without having to trek to a meet. Since I don't swim with a coach I figure this is the best way to ease back into this. Thoughts? Other ideas? BTW, this site was one of the first places I've come to, and having stayed and lurked. I've enjoyed the discussions and feeling of community that I've found here. Thank you for that!

Anita, Welcome back, I too just started back about 5 months ago after 27 years out. Are you doing 2700 yds in less than hour each time you swim? Or for the week? Just wondering. What are your specialities? Welcome back to you too! I'm up to 2700 per day, 3 days a week. Today I was going to shoot for an hour, but an aquatics class person lost their turkey...ewww...so I was cut short. My specialties used to be distance free and 200 fly...but making one lap of fly is now a good thing, although I did do 4X100 IM's today:woot:
