Everyone Wants a Poll

It seems a poll is needed. In your opinion and experience, does cross training benefit your swimming performance?

  • Peter: That's so sweet... you're a gem. Frank: I think I am in the throes of an addiction. I'm supposed to be sitting at my computer writing a brief on a restrictive covenant, but then I find myself preoccupied with questions about "butterfrog" and "cross training." There have been a lot of interesting posts lately, so that has prompted me to post. But, to confess, I think swimming is my form of a mid life crisis. I took 24 years off from the sport after shoulder injury/burnout and have devoted myself to work (semi-retired now, however) and kids for an awful long time. But about 16 months ago, I decided I needed something for just me in my life. Since I had run myself into a stress fracture, I headed back to the pool. Where I'm really enjoying myself. I'm sure my addiction is bound to fade soon. My daughter always wants to kick me off my computer so she can IM. So I probably won't make it to 3500. You're a prodigious poster too. In fact, everyone has been racking up the posts lately! And no one can keep up with George. I actually met two other frequent posters at a meet last weekend. They were both very nice and it was fun to meet them. P.S. George, I know how you voted! Fortress: Thanks for sharing your story about your addiction and how swimming can be a help in a mid life crisis. I think you set the record here with 11.38 posts per day average for the month of October. In comparison with George, he is averaging 2.18 a day since joining. So no one is coming close and we will see if the addiction goes down soon. The only other person that had a lot besides you in the last two months was Terry/Total Swim and he has since changed his identity to Kaizen Swimmer. From September 4 until today he had 256 and you have 351 with 26 less days. So you are the all time champion.
