"Did you have fun?" Probably the best question to start with!
Went to one of my niece's basketball games (she was in elementary school at the time, playing on a girls' club team), and the coach of the opposing team must have thought he was in the WNBA... constantly screaming at refs and players, no encouragement of the girls' efforts. (Hello? These girls were about 10 years old!) My brother, his wife, and I were all pretty turned off by this coach and very, very grateful my niece was not on his team.
Unfortunately, he's not an isolated case.
Fortunately, there are many other coaches who are committed to helping kids not only learn but enjoy a sport.
