Does vertical leap = sprinter?

I'm sure a few of you had your vertical leap measured during worlds at the U of I tent. While I was there, the guy taking the results told me (in his unofficial opinion) that the swimmers with better leaping ability were most likely sprinters. So I am curious, does having a good vertical leap (24 inches or more) indicate that you are more suited for sprinting rather than distance events? Or does it just mean that you can jump and has nothing to do with your ability to swim fast? Kevin
