I may be growing old, thin and feeble, but it seemed to me that there were a HELL of a lot of really big beefy middle aged dudes swimming at the meet at Stanford. I was sitting in the clerk of course for the 50 and 100 free thinking I weigh about 20-40 lbs less than most of these guys. I'm tellin' yah some of these guys chests were HUGE with big guns to match! I felt like a friggen squirrel in a Rotweiller cage. Saeger and I were glad it wasn't tag team wrestling. We'd of had our arms and legs ripped off. I'm thinking my standard formula of vitamins, protein powder and motrin may be out of date. After all, the cardinal rule of Masters Swimming.................. It's not how fast you go....... It's how good you look..... :-) John Smith

  • oh JS is refering to those mmbbb's massive macho burly body builder types, there were some extremely buff dudes ( there's a point of diminishing returns and it looked to me a like several passed it ) I saw many more of the overweight types. There was one australian who went 24.6ish in the 50 free who had a massive belly agreed, if folks wanna swim fast they gotta put in the work Mr Abrahams seems to know a thing or two about how to train to swim remarkably fast, his 25.2 50 free thouroughly impressed me. also paul, congrats on your swims, you really brought your races home fast. Ande Originally posted by Paul Smith Ande.......what JS is refering to is not the "lean" build but rather the massive/muscular build.....did you get a close look at the Italians & Brazilians? Did you see Ramon from Venezuela? These guys make Scott Spann look like a wimp! Masters swimming has changed my friends, the days of bing competitive with little to no training (at this level at least) are gone.....Big, Bad & Fast.... Note to Mr. Abrahams......John and I are signing up for your 10 week program......we want arms like Sheri's!
