I won't be able to compete in an official meet until October, so this is essentially my first meet, the way my coach and I are treating it.
In that case, should I shave down for it...or am I still wasting time? My coach left it up to me.

Yes definately shave down.A mock meet should involve all aspects of a real meet.If you're not sure how to shave down then get your coach to help you at the pool.Good luck.
