:badday::badday::badday: GRRR snow day 3 tomorrow, so looking forward to spending the day with my 2 nutso kids again.....not! I need to get out and get a swim in to improve my mood - I'm feeling like a blob. So no swim all week and almost 10k behind on GTD. :bitching::bitching::bitching: I mean an arctic storm in Tx, with highs of 20F and where they just leave the roads to become skating rinks. Frustrated much?
  • Schools were actually open Wednesday and they still cancelled early morning practice. I may go out tonight with a box of Morton's salt and hairdryer and clean the lot myself so I can swim tomorrow.
  • What I don't understand is when a swimmer that is new to Masters swimming and hasn't had a recordable time enters a meet as a "NT" (no time). I'm not talking about the swimmer that is 40/50+ years old swimming for the first time ever in their life. It's the swimmer that swam age group swimming, or college, took off for 2 years, and now jumps back in the pool again swimming the 50 Free for example. They enter as a NT, claiming to not know how fast they are... Then they are seeded in Heat 1 with all the NT's and truly slower swimmers (e.g. 1:28 - 50 free). Then when the race goes they blow out a 26 second 50 free or so. C'mon man!! At least enter something like 30 seconds as a "guess" rather than NT if you can really do it.
  • Okay, it was written as a goof… but why not! There is now a "Swim Kumbaya" thread.... So when you’re done ranting come on over to the light side and share your kumbaya moments.:bliss::worms::bliss: You will find more at the "Swim Happy" thread, too...
  • When kids wade across lap lanes. Twice now I've been in the middle of a timed sprint and have just about collided with one of the little boogers. I look up to the lifeguard with a confused and agitated look and THEN they might blow the whistle. Never before the collision.

I've had the beach ball come into the lane with the kids trying to chase it...the one time I got to the ball first and hit it the opposite way from the kids over across the pool deck...it didn't come in the lap lane anymore. :)
  • Wow, there are some really angry people on this thread. I have experienced most of the situations related, but never thought much about it other than that I was the one out of step. Competitors are, unfortunately, a rare breed and the hoi polloi don't really understand our intensity. Perhaps they would if we were racing to the noodle rack to get the "best" ones before them.
  • Wow, there are some really angry people on this thread. That’s why the thread is called “Swim Rant.”:bitching: If you want to be surrounded by happy swimmers try the “Swim Kumbaya” thread. On a personal note, as always, it was great seeing you last weekend!:chug:
  • If you want to be surrounded by happy swimmers try the “Swim Kumbaya” thread. I did a search and apparently the word "Kumbaya" has been used in about 9 other threads. I was hoping to really find a "Swim Kumbaya" thread....
