It's kindof annoying when people stop me to ask why i'm so fast, then prod or almost insist on me telling them what they're doing wrong to be so slow. I'm there working out on a tight schedule, so no, I don't even have the 3 minutes to give you lessons with. It'd be one thing if I really noticed something about someone's stroke and want to quick mention it during my rest interval. Perhaps I should be flattered but I'm not. 3 minutes of explanation is 200 less meters I can swim on my already short workout schedule. I don't get why people can't ask that stuff once I get out of the pool and head to the locker room?
Would it be too snarky to say that you're so fast because you don't spend your time in the pool hanging on the wall chatting? ;)
I have been tempted to offer lessons though. At least I'd get paid for my expertise rather than have it unwillingly pried from my brain.
Not a bad idea!
Swimmers who... decide that leaving less then 5 seconds behind you is fair or stopping so that they can catch the draft is fair, that really urks me!Yeah, I'm OK with 5 seconds if there are more than 2 of us in a lane, but if there are only 2 of us (and for certain sets 3 of us) in the lane, give me 10 seconds, please. A full 10 seconds.

Just tell them they are dropping their elbows. It is pretty much always true.

That or not working out consistently...
I can't believe how many folks don't understand that it takes more than 2 or 3times a week to be "consistent".
Been in Kaiserslautern Germany for two weeks training intensively at the local AB for 2 weeks. The AB (Ramstein) has one of the most spectacular aquatic centers I've been to, but unfortunately use of this facility would require sole use of a group (with sedentary) car rental or a several mile walk through the snow because I'm staying downtown. I managed 4 swims in 2 weeks.
I'll provide some video of this place later, it's awsome
You can do alot with 6000yards a week as long as you're doing the right things with those yards.
I would be the personified argument against your particular statement. To a point you're right, but only because the people that have to ask how to be fast don't know what the "right things" are.
Granted. Sprinters, please forgive me. You're absolutely correct.

Cleaning the blocks with te stinky chrome cleaner again, nothing like some fumes to send you lightheaded before you turn.
On a positive note, they did choose a time when the pool wasn't crowded. Just me with the 4 lifeguards watching :D :bliss:

There's a lot of things I COULD say. Some snarkier than others ;)
