I have done seven heats and seven finals and 3 relays in two days. If you had to prepare for each event you could have been sick. Allen I did not think butterfly and breaststroke is a good mix. Any body else hate when they combine heats.I have a very structured preparation for each race and when my heat is suddenly moved up I don't like it in general, but when my events are already too close together and they eliminate heats, well:censor:This weekend at our Zones the 200 fly was the 2nd event and they combined both heats.I was hoping for 1 hr rest before the 200 BR,but the meet was running fast anyway and then they combined heats 1&2:badday:
  • I knew that the 200 fly,200 BR was a silly double,my actual plan was to try to get TT in the 200 fly(2:59.86-first time under 3:00) and then get a good 50 split in the 200 BR and then just finish.I actually went slower for that 50 than the first 50 of my 100.Anyone who wants to rant about BR is entitled to their own opinion/delusion.It generally takes me at least 60 min between events to swim at my very best, that makes me fast twitch,if you want to define that as wimpy you are welcome to your distance swimmer dismal opinion.
  • Right, because thrashing your arms about like a drowning victim is "being a man". Riiiiiiiiight.... People who know how to swim fly don't look like they're drowning. That's reserved for the breasties.
  • People who know how to swim fly don't look like they're drowning. That's reserved for the breasties. This is a very valid point. I think when the world gets baked to the point we are all under water that the *** strokers will be the last to drown because it is a survival stroke, not a competitive one.

  • I've been alternatively sick or too busy at work to swim for the last 3 weeks. I feel completely out of shape! I'm afraid I'm going to be starting from near ground zero when I finally get back into the water. I'm really bummed out! :(
  • By the way, I happen to think butterfly is the most graceful, powerful and beautiful of the four strokes. If I wasn't a breaststroker, I would want to be a butterflyer. Us short axis stroke swimmers need to stick together in any event. In fact, I've got nothing but love for swimmers of all strokes (though I really just don't get backstroke). Also, I think 200 breaststroke is way tougher than 200 freestyle. Anybody who doubts me should give it a shot, but my lungs are on FIRE by the end of the third 50 of a 200 breaststroke. I've never done it, but I bet my arms would be in much worse shape after a 200 fly. I don't see the sense in subjecting myself to that type of torture though.

My thought breastroke is a medivial swim stroke and should not have any place amongst the real swimming strokes, front crawl and the real butterfly. Butterfrog and breaststroke should only be a memory from the past. Backstroke should also be discontinued. 87 degrees in Melaque Mexico. The crocdiles are swimming by in the lagoon. I had my first Margarita last night since we arrived.

So you want the IMs discontinued too? Meets with just fly and crawl would be pretty boring, IMO.
