Totally with you on #3,4 and 5 ... but, really, wasn't chlorine invented for #1 and #2?. The chlorine is invented for bio-material that the shower doesn't remove and to protect others against "accidents".
The cologne/perfume wearers are a pet peeve of mine; especially when the hottub heat strengthens the odor and it gives me a splitting headache even 75 feet away. I don't think chlorine does anything at all for it.
For a cool-down effect, take a cold shower before getting in the pool. When sweat etc combines with chlorine it forms the nasty stuff that burns eyes and throats.
Swim coaches may tend to tell kids to get straight into the pool as some will hide out in the showers to goof off during their limited available lane time. Kids in that level number a fairly small subset of the total population of pool users. Not that I agree, but I understand that rationale.
