We have a great head coach and 3 very good assistants - but still not enough.
Dallas has 5 divisions (by size). Format is 5 duel meets, Champs, and All-Stars (top 16 of all divs). The greatest thing our coach did was invite anyone to swim duel meets with us at our home pool - otherwise we'd be driving 1+ hours for away meets. 6 & under this year will score and get DQ'd. (ie, very few fly, ***, IM's).
Ok, here's another pet peeve: people who sign up their kids or fail to scratch their kids and then we have to scrabble like mad to adjust the relays!!! Yours truly is the head 6&under girls chaperone, weeee!
And one more! Ribbon inflation. Used to be only 1/2/3 when I was a kid. A big deal to get a ribbon! Now we give 1-8th, heat winner ribbons, best time ribbons - EVERY time you get a best time, and participant ribbons. Champs is through 16th place. One little girl cried last meet- because she got another blue ribbon!
Hulk, you can coach and i'll save you a coveted spot UTT (under the tent) at meets. You can be a time averager or scorer. Cush job in the shade!
