There were some rumors that he was going to get back into training and do some meets but that has not happened. I know this year he did a swimming clinic at the Men's NCAA Swimming Championships with Sabir Muhammad for allumni swimmers and master swimmers. That is about all I heard regarding swimming. He may be at Cal with Mike Bottom but I have not read or seen anything in the swimming news about that. Last year he did a very generous thing in auctioning off his Olympic Gold Medal on e-bay and donating the funds from the winning bid to help Asian tsunami victims. He is also in a rock band called Weapons of Mass Destruction and plays guitar. I don't wear I read that or maybe I saw it on one of those shows on VH1 like "Behind the Music". I know he is trained in classical music and he wanted to spend more time jamming then swimming. Some thought he left the sport early but I remember him saying he fulfilled his goals in both the 2000 Olympics and 2001 World Championships and there was nothing left for him to prove. He liked swimming for Cal and finished his college eligibility in 2003 and shortly retired after. Its been so long now and swimming has changed so much I don't know what his chances would be to make the team. Perhaps the 50 Free might be his best bet.
