Is there any consensus on the usefulness of dryland cardio workouts for swimming? I'm not including strength work, but rather cycle work or other cardio type machines. Also, lets assume that neither weight nor percent body fat are problems.

I have a Concept 2 rowing machine that if used properly ( good form etc. ) is a great dryland cardio workout. It works the entire body and also serves as somewhat of a resistance trainer. They also have an online training log so you can keep track of your meters rowed. http://www.concept2.com
