Stop complaining, finding excusing for your own neglect and play fair. Deadlines are set for everyone - these extensions are ridiculous. Oh here we go again, another phony "fairness" debate. What's the harm to you or me if the Meet Committee let's a few more swimmers sign up? I think Michael has laid out pretty well why they're doing this. First, there was some confusion and delay getting the online entry system up such that some swimmers might not have made perfect entries perfectly on time. The Meet organizers made a decision that overall the "fairest" thing to do was give everyone one last clear chance to sign up. Second, the Meet organizers have made arrangements and incurred expenses on the assumption the number of entries will be in a certain range. As Michael pointed out the marginal cost and work required to run a few heats more is practically zero; however, the entry fees of those last few swimmers who sign up may be the difference between covering the costs of the meet, or not. Most important, the Meet organizers are the ones with all the available information who USMS has trusted to run the meet. In case no one else noticed the stressed tone in Michael's posts, he and his folks are working their tails off to put on one of the biggest and most demanding meets in Masters Swimming. Issues like this are THEIR DECISION, as they should be. The rest of us would do well to avoid wasting their time by having to respond to kibitzing & kvetching that will have no other effect whatsoever. Matt
