curious about the breakdown between introverts and extroverts who swim, and what they swim. are distance folks more inclined to be introverted, and sprinters, the opposite?

You are correct and I have found myself in the same exact situation you speak of. However, sometimes a complete lack of parental involvement or parental concern needs to be pointed out and I have no shame or reservation in judging those people.
