Old Magazine Covers

I was at a used bookstore this weekend and I was looking for anything related to swimming when I came across 2 Life Magazines - First one was from 1964 - Don Schollander on the cover in his warmups and medals. The second was from 1972 - Mark Spitz on the cover and it was for the Munich Olympics "preview." The entire mag was intact - I plan to frame the covers to hang in our "sports" room along with my Huskers memorabilia. In the 1964 magazine, it was toward post-Olympic (Tokyo) coverage and included stuff about Donna DeVarona too - as well as other swimmers. In the 1972 magazine, the cover of Spitz is him swimming without goggles. Then inside, there is a picture of him swimming with goggles and the caption explains that Spitz wears "goggles" when training to protect his eyes from the chlorine. I thought it was funny that they had to explain goggles. Also, it is eerie reading the mag because of the terrorist attack/killing that occurred at the Olympics. The 1972 mag also has an article about Steve Prefontaine - and that is sad too considering his untimely death. The ads are all for tobacco too. The cost for both magazines.....$10.00.
