A Golf/Swimming Comparison

Ok, Here is a question. I was wondering about how to compare shooting your age in golf (a feat regardless of how old you are). After seeing Paul Smith swim a 47.++ in the 100 free as a 45 year old, is swimming your age in the 100 free a similar comparison?

  • Just with a quick look at the National records and then searching individual results here's a stab at the earliest "swimming of one's age in the 100 free (scy)" Men: Jack Groselle 47.87 at age 47 (2002) Women: Laura Val 54.81 at age 54 (just a couple days ago) If you use long course obviously that ups the age some. Interestingly, it doesn't look like a U.S. woman has ever swam her age for the LC 100 free. Sounds like a goal for someone to shoot for!
