Hello--
I was on the road a bit about 2 weeks ago, and only got in 3 workouts with my regular team (I usually get in 5). I was in rural New Mexico during the week, and didn't even think to find a masters team, but since I was also headed to Las Vegas for a business trip-weekend, I found a masters team in Henderson. Even though I arrived there a little late, the coach was very friendly and put me in a lane based on my response to, "What is the fastest you can swim 10x100 yard free." It was a very good group, and I got in a good workout, especially considering that I had been up pretty late the night before (I was in Vegas after all).
It was a smaller group there than I am used to, but they were all very friendly, and it was a tough set. It does require that you have a car to get there, and it was about a 15-min drive from the strip area (I was at New York-NY). The facility was very nice too, small indoor pool for mostly rec swimmers, and a large 50m outdoor pool, divided with a bulkhead as 2-25 yard pools. There actually was some meet going on in the other side while we were working out.
If anyone else is headed up to Vegas, be sure to look them up, or one of the other masters groups in the area.

As much as I like to swim, when I go to Vegas it's all about the unhealthy things.

That's the reason I swim when I go. It's my penance for what else is going on there. What happens there, stays there.
City of Las Vegas Masters at The Desert Breeze Aquatic Center has a good and big group also. They are only 3 miles from the strip, so easy to get back for fun and frolic (if thats what you want to call it)!
As I recall the last few trips I have made to Vegas, I don't think a workout over 400-500 yards would be tolerated by my body. A dirt nap would have been my next stop. Although a friend and I did have an underwater swimming contest at the Flamingo Pool on a trip last summer. I lost and my opponent refused to allow me to swim, or for us to race, on the surface...the celebratory cocktails provided by an intoxicated member of our group made it all worthwhile though. Mmmm....Vegas! Going for a concert/show in July and I can't wait.
