Help with breaststroke sprints

Hey everybody. I'm new to this forum. I live in Canada and am a 16 year old boy. I have not before been on a team or in a club and have not "trained seriously". A few months ago (about 8 or 10 months ago) I started swimming breaststroke and have started thinking of starting to swim seriously. I've heard people say that it is not too late. Currently I swim about 20 - 21 seconds for 25M breaststroke, but I know some people who can swim much faster ( 15 - 16 seconds for the same distance). I'm wondering how can I improve my breaststroke to that speed? First, I don't know if my technique is right. I've taken 3 videos of myself, and here they are: www.youtube.com/watch www.youtube.com/watch www.youtube.com/watch Can someone tell me if I'm doing it correctly? Second of all, if my technique is okay, then what else should I do to improve it? Do I swim short sets, do strength exercises, or both? Is it then merely a matter of training intensity and practice if my technique is right (which is probably not right)? Thanks for all your help.
  • Type in"breaststroke sprinting" in Search this Forum and it will give you lots of threads with useful info. Re; your stroke, your timing looks pretty good but it looks like you are going too deep when you put your head down after your breathe. I can't see your hands or feet in the video so I can't comment more. Maybe a video from the front and back would show more,or even better, underwater shots.
