Anyone else find it a bit odd that the cover of the May/June issue shows "swimmers" wearing flotation vests?

Questions: Is the magazine self-sustaining? (or) Does it receive subsidy from USMS?
USMS collects $8 for the magazine from each individual USMS registration.

It appears that the two swimming publications (USMS/Swimming World) are trying to distinguish themselves...SW seems to be focusing more on masters competition, USMS on the fitness swimmer.
Hi Paul,
Sorry, I almost missed your message – but I’m glad you posted it because it’s one of the most common misconceptions about our magazine.
The job of an association publication (e.g.: the AARP magazine, AAA’s Via, and USMS SWIMMER) is to represent the many diverse activities and interests within the organization it serves. If successful, this type of publication doesn’t really need to do anything else to distinguish itself from the others.
SWIMMER’s focus is on the broad spectrum of USMS members -- not just one sector of our membership.
