Hope someone can help.
After quite a bit of time, goggle straps I've used normally start breaking apart and dissolving. Unfortunately, I had this happen to a pair I don't use quite so often (clear lens, I only use when the sun isn't too bright or indoor pool).
Anyway, by time I realized what had happened...they had dissolved onto the goggles and to one of my suits and I can't get it completely off either.
Any advice as to what might work??? Anyone also know why this happens (petroleum product breakdown, chlorine acting on the material, too warm in my car???)???

I agree...not to mention I'm religious about rinsing with cold tap after every use.
I've been using the silica straps more and more as replacements and like them much better also. Unfortunately, most new goggles come with the rubbery latex kind of strap.
It is totally like gum, I think I will try the freezer to see if it helps any.

UPDATE: Tried the freezer, helped a little to get off the goggles, but took a while and some serious rubbing. On the suit, it's worked into the fibers of the material and won't come out.
I'll try throwing the suit into the wash. if not, then I guess I'll doing some swimming with parts of the goggle strap worked into the suit. ;-) It will wear out eventually anyway.
