Hope someone can help.
After quite a bit of time, goggle straps I've used normally start breaking apart and dissolving. Unfortunately, I had this happen to a pair I don't use quite so often (clear lens, I only use when the sun isn't too bright or indoor pool).
Anyway, by time I realized what had happened...they had dissolved onto the goggles and to one of my suits and I can't get it completely off either.
Any advice as to what might work??? Anyone also know why this happens (petroleum product breakdown, chlorine acting on the material, too warm in my car???)???
TIA--

Jody, I would think it is a combination of all the things you listed.
I too am religious about rinsing and air drying and then always storing them in the original box. I have had several regular goggle straps snap on me, once in a meet as I was putting the silly things on to step up on the blocks, thank God for teammates with extras! Now I use the silicon straps, they seem studier, and I havent had them snap on me. I cant think of a solvent to take it off without doing damge to the garment or goggles. Maybe try freezing the items, and see if it will break/chip off - works for gum. Good luck.
