That must be a fun job on a day like today.
I am an Emergency Services dispatcher: Answer 9-1-1 calls and dispatch police, fire, ambulance as appropriate. It's a small county so we get to do everything. I am on the phone a lot. The hardest part is the shift work.
I am proud to annouce that I have a new job. I am now going to be the Director of Development at A Woman's Fund in Urbana, IL. It is the oldest shelter for women trying to escape domestic violence in the contry. It also runs the rape crisis center and hotline for the University of Illinis and surrounding counties, an educational program in elementary schools to educate children about bullying, and a what does no mean and how can it be said program oriented towards freshmen, male college students.
When I told my old boss the news he said "But Craig, if you had stuck around here through summer, we might have given you a raise or something."

Congrats Craig! My guess is your old boss would have given you "or something." What a rewarding new job!
I teach 8th grade language arts in an appalachian county were most kids never travel 10 miles from home in a lifetime. If I had millions, I'd build a pool for them and teach them all to swim. That would be after I put food in their belly and gave them a safe place to live.
