Yesterday, Phil Whitten posted an article in swimmingworldmagazine.com www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../11171.asp
Reporting that Iowa State University’s Athletic Director (Jamie Pollard) is planning to bring men’s swimming back to Iowa State, after almost 20 years.
I would encourage you to send Mr. Pollard a note of thanks and support ( jbp@iastate.edu ). This program will take time to get off the ground, and your support of his efforts can only help the cause.
Our LMSC Chair sent him a note and received the below response:

Dear Mr. Thompson,
Thank you for your email. I appreciate your taking the time to write me. Just so we are all on the same page, what we said was that it was our goal to try and bring it back sometime in the future. No time table is set because it will take a lot of funding to do so. We are committed to trying to do this only after we have fully funded the sports we currently sponsor. However, if we do not shoot for the stars, we will never get there.
I wanted to share that with you because we do not want to disappoint anyone with unrealistic goals. We have a long ways to go but just the fact we are talking about it and trying to plan for it is a start.
Thanks again for your note.
Go Cyclones!
Jamie Pollard
Director of Athletics

I sent an e-mail to jamie Pollard. I told him about the great traditin Iowa has as a sport state and that it has always been progressive in offering sports ot all people, that is women's basketball, wrestling, soccer, etc. I also told him that most of my family is origianlly from Iowa and that I spent much time in Clermont growing up.
I hope it does good.
