Friends,
I've been trying to register for Southcentral Zone Championships. This year you have to register online at http://www.splashcentral.com. At least I think you do. I'm a bit confused this year. Can I just mail it in like I normally do, with a check and copy of my USMS card?
It requires a username and password to register for the meet, but I cannot discover from the site how I obtain a username and password. Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Out of curiosity, why is the deadline for Zone entries two weeks before the meet?
Thanks all.

The meet information says that hand-written entries may be mailed. It is posted on the Calendar at http://www.ntmasters.org
It looks like you can use the "South Central Zone Registration" link at splashcentral.com to create your own username and password.

It is a large undertaking to type entries in to the meet database for 300 swimmers who forget to fill out required information, have bad handwriting, etc. An online registration will provide high quality entries with much less manpower from the meet host.
Entries are due 10 days before the meet, not two weeks. That is standard for many USAS meets in this area/this facility. Rationale is a guess but from my own experience here are some things: it will allow a full weekend when volunteers with fulltime day jobs will have more time to process entries, get meet programs printed, contact swimmers whose entries are incomplete/incorrect, get T-shirts printed. For the professionals, that will allow them to do their part during their normal workweek and still make deadlines.
