Hi all. I've posted videos of my freestyle stroke in my blog entry here.. I would appreciate your comments either in my blog or in this forum. Thanx. Come and visit my nest.
  • I think the over-kicking might be in part a response to you turning your head too far to breathe. The breathing puts your body out of alignment and you're trying to correct this with a huge kick. Concentrate on breathing just by using the natural rotation of your body. you shouldn't really need to turn your head. While you do this work on a quicker kick with much less amplitude. I sgree you've made some big strides since your first video. Keep it up. You're definitely on the right track, but still have some work to do!

You are swimming catchup crawl, feet come out of water too often while kicking. The hand preceeds the elbow too soon after the recovery. Your head is popping up when you breathe. Snaking movement, side to side. spine is not strait, should be like an arrow, ok to roll the shoulders, much more but I usually charge for swimming stroke analysis. Next video you take have one taken a from head on swimming directly towards the camera. Here are a few comments. I do suggest you get a coach.

George's critique seems right on to me. Sometimes, people think that reaching with their hand in formt of their elbows gets their stroke goiing quicker. that's a big mistake.

It appears that you are dropping your elbows upon entry and keeping it that way until you recover. There are drills to help you with this. Also, your feet are coming too far out of the water and this is probably due to your hips riding too high. Hips tend to ride high when you are burying your head. Try swimming with your head tilted a bit more toward the end of the pool and see if this helps. You have made alot of improvement since the first two videos. Not to sound too much like Simon on American Idol, but I couldn't even finish watching the first video. I was able to watch more of the second video, but also had to cut it short - too painful to watch. The third video I watched in its entirety twice. Keep working on drills. Good work so far!

Added to the comments already made, I think that you need to make your hands entry the water much more higher over your head after recovering, maybe a little bit of flexibility excercises on your shoulders will help. I agree with Knelson and think that all the issues related to not keeping an arrow position are because of your breathing technique, if you improve on that I think everything else will do as well.

George: There is not much to critique... but I can tell it was filmed somewhere in Mexico. Nice country isn't it?:D :D
