It is less than six months before the first heat of the 800 Meter Freestyle starts at the XI FINA World Masters Championships. The Organizing Committee is working hard to make this a most memorable FINA Masters Championship.
MEET BOOKS
Meet Books have been sent to all USMS LMSC chairms and clubs. The meet book is also available on line at

The meet book contains the registration/inscription information, the fees and much information about the upcoming World Championships. For swimmers, the qualifying times are in the meet book.
On page 41 of the meet book is information about travel discounts that are available to athletes traveling to the FINA Worlds.

HOTELS
The organizing committee encourages you to make your hotel reservations right now. The committee blocked 26,000 room nights for the championships. While almost all the hotel rooms in Palo Alto have been booked for the swimming competition dates, there is still hotel rooms in the Santa Clara block and San Mateo block that have great value.

VISAS
Swimmers are responsible for their own visas and transportation. For many countries you will be have to get a visa from a United States consular office. If you need a letter of invitation, please contact Tracy Grilli at usms@usms.org

DORM ROOMS
The Organizing Committee has secured a limited number of Stanford Dorm rooms. Please note as Stanford says "Dorm Rooms" are not hotel rooms and Stanford is not in the hotel business. These rooms are used for students during the academic year and for conferences during thes summer season
DORM ROOMS
The Dorm rooms include a bed, sheets (not changed daily), bathroom / toilets (WC) down the hall. The dorm rooms include breakfast and a sack lunch or a lunch at the dorm. Due to Stanford policies, the food plan is included with the dorm room package. The dorm rooms are on the Stanford campus.
TIME
You may only reserve dorm for certain periods of time. The first period of time is the swimming/water polo time: 3-11 August (eight days).
The second period of time is the Diving / Synchronized Swimming time from which is 11-18 August (7 days).
Stanford's policies require that you reserve the dorm for the entire period of time. There is no credit given if you stay in the room for less time.
PREPAYMENT
You must prepay the entire amount. If you do not use the rooms, there is no credit given if you do not use the rooms.
SINGLE OR DOUBLE
You may choose either single or double occupancy; most of the rooms have two beds in them.
INTERNET ACCESS
Internet access is available for a fee it can be reserved in advance via the Internet, so it will be ready when you arrive. You may arrange for Internet access once you arrive by going to the Stanford Internet Service.
PRICE:
The price per night for a single (including breakfast and a sack lunch) is $108.05/ night. The price for a double (including breakfast and a sack lunch) is $185.10 (92.55/person).

WATER POLO
California has been a 'hot bed' of water polo activity in the United States. Teams are being put together and have started practicing. It looks like in California there will be at least five teams of men's 55+ who will competing at the Championships. They are looking forward to competition from water polo teams from around the world.
We have also heard that there will be at least three teams of women's 50+ water polo teams.Everyone is looking forward to great international competition.
ON-LINE MEET REGISTRATION
The organizing committee is finishing up the on-line meet registration.
Information. When the on-line meet registration is available, an email will be sent out all people on the email list. Also when the on-line registration is available, it will be posted on the web site.

Speedo is working with the organizing committee to produce swimware with the official XI FINA World Masters logo. If you would like to get swim ware with the office XI FINA World Masters logo, contact the Speedo representative in your country.
