My Hair Hurts!!!

Between the chlorine and the hard water at the Y, my hair is looking dry and yucky. My stylist recommended a deep conditioner product, but it is not for daily use. I wear a cap when I swim and I use shampoo & conditioner for dry hair and it is not solving the problem. Has anyone cured the swimmers' hair problem? Going bald and shaving my head are NOT options. :) Any recommendations?

Redken has a product called "Swim Cream". I apply it to my hair before putting my cap on. I can tell that it stays on my hair for the entire workout, because it takes two washes before my shampoo will lather afterward. In the summer we swim outdoors in warm-to-hot water, so I wear a lycra cap to help keep me cooler. Lycra caps are just cloth, so the water goes right through them. The Swim Cream stays on even with the lycra cap!
