I am so not happy about Fox giving her this hosting gig. Then again, I was always on Team Evans when the Janet Evans and Summer Sanders feud was happening. The sports media never portrayed Matt Biondi and Tom Yaeger(don't remember his last name that well) feuding with each other.

Its hard for me to believe that people don't know who Summer Sanders is? Now maybe they don't remember that she was a swimmer, but if they watch any sort of Cable Sports there going to know who Summer is.
I know. I had a hard to believing it, too!

You better start using the preview before you respond. I know I should talk because I have made some silly blunders here too. You meant to put time have hard. If you read that many times you might get a different interpretation of what you meant to say.

After the 1992 Olympics a lot of press predicted that Summer would be a media darling in the future and it looks like that has happened judging from the exposure recently in TV.
You know, this is like the thread on the race club site of asking the man on the streets to name some swimmers. Since I am married to the man on the street that has no clue about swimming, I am betting that he would not know who Summer Sanders is, he could name Michael Phelps, and probably Mark Spitz and that is it. If you are not into swimming, you don't know the swimmers, and once they have had their spot every 4 years, they are forgotton.

Agreed. What I was saying is that if you have Cable TV and watch the sports programs its hard not to remember Summer Sanders. I think people will know who she is but probably not remember she was a swimmer. On some of those shows she will hint that she was a swimmer. I keep seeing her on those ESPN shows like who is the greatest and the sports lists. I think I have seen at least 6 of those recently. Like who are the 20 Greatest College Basketball Players ever, 20 Greatest NFL Quarterbacks, etc. If you don't watch cable sports or cable TV, you are probably right that the person on the street won't know Summer.

Oops! I guess I can't go back and edit it now or no one will understand what you're talking about. I'll just have to live with that one :D
I saw that show last night. My wife's a figure skater and I guess the people in her skating forum all asked "who the heck is Summer Sanders?" Some people remembered she was an athlete of some type, but no one knew she was a swimmer!

Summer used to do TV for swim meets back in the 1990's and was one of the color commentators for the 1996 Olympics with Rowdy Gaines and Dan Hicks. From there she went on to host programs with many different networks with different types of programs. She even has a book that was published about her swimming and life experiences about 5 years ago.
Programs like Nickelodeon "Figure It Out", ESPN "NBA Inside Stuff", ESPN "The Sport Lists" and the new program on ESPN called "Beg Borrow and Deal". I can't think of one women athlete that has hosted this many different programs in the last 10 years. Summer along with Dona de Verona have become the most successful USA women swimmers to ever host sports TV.
It does not matter if you like it or not, the TV world obviously likes the job that Summer has been doing, so I think you are going to see a lot of Summer in the future doing different gigs with sports. This FOX show is just another in the long list of shows for Summer Sanders.

What is the difference bnetween hosting this terrible show on Fox and the count down on FSN? Both are very cheesey! But as my father used to always say, " A pay check is a pay check!"

What was the feud about?
I think that the media brought that on because they both competed in the 400 IM and I think that the media wanted to tear her down from being so successful at South Korea. That is all that I can remember from that time.
