Matt, in a "normal" year you'd be right however since I had shoulder surgery in October training has had to be adapted to a shorter cycle.
Also, its a bit of a challenge to go into nationals in May and be able to come back for worlds at 100%. Hence the discussions of late about how some of the top USS swimmers are training in a way that focuses more on quality work that enables them to swim fast a multiple meets.
Problem is, old farts like John and I still train/taper "old school" and need at least two weeks taper!
