I've read in a few web sites that you burn less calories swimming freestyle than using a breaststroke, is this true ? why ?
Can anyone expand on this concept ?

Other than opinion, does anyone have any proof of this. It's not like a good backstroker drags his legs.
I can see that it burns more calories because it takes longer to get from point a to point b but if someone swims a 52+ 100 *** and the same person swims a 52+ 100 back, does the 100 *** burn more calories?
I don't know and I wonder if anyone really does.
