Fancy suit

I don't need or deserve one, but I'm thinking of exercising my master's prerogative and ordering a race suit to celebrate my first meet. I signed up for free and *** events. Any thoughts on which suit style is appropriate? I swim in TYR jammers normally. The leggings look cool for free, but does the fabric sap energy in the *** kick?

You lose the sensation of the water when swimming breaststroke in a suit with long legs. I'd suggest sticking with jammers.
  • Yep, I like bright shiny new toys just as much now as I did when I was a kid. I've been working hard on my swimming, feeling good, and am thinking I might reward myself with a slick new suit for my first meet in 27 years. At least I will have reduced my excuses for not being the fastest swimmer by one.:D
  • I just bought me a new suit for my first masters swim meet next month. I thought I deserved it, sure cost a pretty penny though.

For some people, activities are as much about the accessories as the activity itself. With swimming, some people enjoy collecting goggles and high end suits to enjoy while they swim. These things are not needed to swim but they keep things interesting for the individual which keeps them involved in the sport.

I bought a legskin two years ago for my first Masters meet. My times sucked. Last month I wore an FSII bodyskin (sleeveless) for a scm meet and swam well. Was it the suit, the training, or the taper? Probably the training and the taper, but I did notice a difference with the suit on, especially when it was dry.

This saturday, the age-groupers at the Y where I swim had their first home meet. I saw a boy from the other team wearign a Fastskin II leg suit. I think he was around 13yrs old. I thought that was very unnecessary.

This is exactly why I like the rules for open water swims. The suit cannot extend below the knees, and must be made of a porous material. Suit- $20 Goggles: $4.50 Cap: free with race entry
