Having kept swimming daily for almost one year and done some interval sets during the past 2 weeks, my cruise time is about 23-24 seconds per 25 yards. My goal is to refuce my cruise time to 20 seconds per 25 yards. I don't know if I can reach that goal or not. I feel my techniche is not perfect, but pretty ok. I have poor kick, but kick is the hardest to improve. Maybe I can improve my condition, but how much I can improve? Will swimming condition make so much difference that I can reduce my cruise time from 23 seconds per 25 yards to 20 seconds? Or maybe 20 seconds per 25 yards is totally out of reach for some people whatever they try?

Instead of reaching to improve from 23-24 to 20, why not aim for 22 first. Or even 22.5 (45 secs per 50.) Take a smaller bite and feel good about that. Then you can work at hitting 21, and then 20... BTW, how old are you? And you say you've been swimming for a year... Do you have any measurement of what you were doing 9 months ago? 6 months ago? 3 months ago? Just curious about the progress you've made so far.

I just started to pay attention to my speed 3 months ago. Well, I am definitely much better than 1 year ago. But it seems I didn't have any progress during the past month.

Bob Today I did four 25 yards sprint.(push from wall and drop dead at the other end), the time is about 13 seconds each. That seems much better than the 16 seconds two weeks ago. But I was rerally exhausted.
