In connection to the poll about which stroke you train the most at; I want to test my hypothesis that no one outside of a small group of masochistic freaks would swim more than 50% of a regular 3000-4000 yard workout butterfly.......So if I'm wrong let me know by voting and by commenting on how you swim all that butterfly in a single workout?

I'm good for some 25s but that's about it. I'm VERY self-conscious about working on it at the the pool... I just can't shake the feeling that the lifeguards are watching me, thinking, "Is she drowning? Oh wait, she's attempting fly..."

However, I rarely swim only 3000! Come opn kids, let's really do some work!
The poll said 300 + yard workouts....as in "at least" 3000 yards....not exactly 3000 yards.....no offense or anything....I just wanted to clarify that point.

I agree. The guards at my pool watch me with what I have chosen to see as admiration. :) Several HAVE commented on how I can really swim fly (which only confirms Geochuck's assessment that most guards don't know fly. :)
Heather (who was told once at a workshop that I was a natural flyer, so I've spent two years trying to prove it :)
I am always surprised to see how badly many lifeguards swim.
I think that structurally, the fly is the easiest stroke because there is only so many ways that both arms can move at the same time. I just wish that it didn't take so much energy!

I might swim more fly if our pool wasn't ... crowded with lap swimmers taking a bath.
LOL. Yesterday I was practicing some fly in a middle lane and the guy in the lane next to me (who was trying to swim breastroke while keeping his head entirely dry and above water) got out and moved into an end lane. I guess he didn't like the splash.
yes, i do swim very little fly, i'm resting on my fly laurels
I kick much more fly than I swim and do 1 armed stroke drills
you ought to put the link to your blog in your signature so I can remember to check it out from time to time
ande
the poll needed a less than 1% category
