Hi to all,
In May this year I was invited to coach the UK's top masters club, Spencer Swim Squad, at a training camp in Lanzarote. We've booked the same facility for next year too. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
What I'm looking for is a session to give to the swimmers on the Sunday afternoon. This is a rest day for the majority of the swimmers. But at our last camp they were offered an optional session, which many chose to try out.
We ran through the 'Olympic Programme' of individual events, with 30 seconds rest after every swim...
100m butterfly
200m butterfly
100m backstroke
200m backstroke
100m breaststroke
200m breaststroke
200m Individual medley
400m Individual medley
50m freestyle
100m freestyle
200m freestyle
400m freestyle
800m freestyle
1500m freestyle
Total: 4550 metres
If you can come up with something similar that is challenging, maybe that you have tried out, then please let me know. Some swimmers thought this Olympic Programme was too easy - so if you can make it more demanding, all the better. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Why don't you try putting it in a somewhat similar order as they did in the Olympics?
This was the men's order ... I think:
400 IM
400 free
100 ***
200 free
100 back
200 fly
200 ***
100 free
200 IM
200 back
100 fly
50 free
1500 free
Throw the 800 somewhere in there. Maybe after the 200 fly. Ouch!
Sounds like fun, though I'm hoping this doesn't have to be done at race pace.
