Or maybe not quite that dramatic, but I'm sooo frustrated - here's why:
My normal pool is closed for a two week matinence so I've been swimming at the local Y instead. Now I was out of town for the last half-week and couldn't swim. So I figure I'll go and get a swim in today and get back in the water. Aaaand......the Y is CLOSED! Not fair!
I'm going to New York in for a week soon and there will be no swimming there, so at best I'll get in two more swims before I leave, and two after that before I move back into school.
Aghagha. Dry land just isn't as fun as swimming. :(
I feel your pain! Mine will be closed in a week... for a week. Just musing in another thread about what I will have to do to get in my swimming. Not much open water swimming near me either ...altho there's a stream nearby that can get a couple feet deep when it rains.... ;)
Hang in... this too shall pass!
I guess I'm the only person who wouldn't be saddened by the closing of the pool, resulting in no other places to swim.
I get to wake up with the sun, instead of before it. I get to watch the TV shows that start at 9:00 all the way through instead of taping the last half and watching the rest in the morning after swimming.
Unfortunately, I live in a city where the coach has many connections, and our team, it seems, will never be without a place to swim.

Jim, wake up! First your car & now this. Coincidence? I don't think so. Sounds like the UT swim team supporters are at it again - they will stop at nothing to keep Ande from being beaten like a rented mule.
I think you are on to something Leonard. Are you getting all of this Ande? Apparently there are a number of your supporters who have clearly started a conspiracy to sabotage my training in every way possible....even if it means vandalizing my training facility. It's one thing to vandalize my car....but the YMCA pool in Jackson is another story. The absolute perversion of it all!......For all I know Ande put them up to it!!

The question, I suppose, is why so many pools decide to close at exactly the same time. It's hard to imagine why they can't stagger their closings and make deals with one another so that the membership of each pool can use the other when their pool is closed.

Pools close this time of year because long course season is over and there's usually a 2-4 week gap before fall SCM starts. Most swimmers view August as the rest and recuperate month.
Also, at the end of the summer is a good time to clean the pool after a few months of heavy usage that put a strain on the entire facility.
I went to practice this morning only to find out that most of the water in the pool had mysteriously leaked out.....the lifeguards were completely baffled to b/c there was no scheduled pool maintenance that caused it....it was just some kinda of leak in the valves they explained?? Now I don't know how long it will be before the pool will be operational again.....I may have to try and find some workout time at another location here in town (and the options are severely limitted unfortunately!)
