Pool is closed-what are you doing instead?

OK, annual pool maintenance has shut down the pool for a week. I plan on continuing the weight lifting, but the end of the week will be a few rest days after a very intense August work-out wise. Will add some walking and biking to make up for not swimming. If your pool is temporarily shut down, what will you do to stay active?

I have been swimming in my backyard pool while our team did a 2-week training break. I hadn't been swimming regularly so I didn't need or want a break. 16-yards, one lane, "really slow" pool. I'm slow and out of shape so this is working OK. Writing workouts is fun given the odd length - 192y IM's ? I am focusing on my worst strokes etc. Fly is challenging due to sloshing. Kicking and drills are good - I am realllly slow at those in particular. No paddles or fins like I would use in the big pool, and back flipturns get me pretty dizzy that close together but free flipturns are OK. I would prefer having a group and a coach, but the convenience and fresh air / sunrise is terrific. Old picture: the landscaping has all grown in since then, but the pool's the same. You can see the backstroke flag pole anchor in the deck to hold a galvanized metal fence pole hacked in 2. www.fastswimming.org/.../pool_sock_monkey.jpg
