a challenge from New masters swimmer aka jim B.

I received a challenge from New masters swimmer aka jim B he wrote "Overall I'm not quite ready to vanquish Ande yet .... but I am formally challenging Ande on the 500 free...... At the end of the short course season, the man with the slower 500 free time has to buy the other swimmer one beer for every second he is behind the faster swimmers time .... (kinda like the John Smith vs Bobby Patten bet at Nationals last year) ..... Hopefully Ande will go to Nationals in Coral Gables this year so we might get to face off head to head in the 500. Ande has more overall speed than I do right now ..... so I think that the 500 is my best chance (if there is any chance at all?).... but what the heck.... I can't just roll over and submit defeat to an ex longhorn now can I!!??" Should I accept? ande

  • great to hear from you I'm not sure when I'll swim in a meet but I do hope to swim in one or 2 between Oct & Dec and in 2 - 3 between Jan - May 2006. I'll definitely try to make 2006 South Central Zones and hopefully Nats will work out too. I may swim in a few USS meets. My training priority this fall is the 400 IM, last year I went 4:58 in the 400 SCM IM just playing around but like you said the 400 IM dovetails into the 500 free. I hope to be much better around November. ande Originally posted by newmastersswimmer originally posted by Ande Raz Actually I was thinking more along the lines of: Beat the Raz....Kick his burnt orange Azz!! but very similar to your idea.....I will have several different mantra's to choose from on any given workout. As far as the Bork Blog.......I think it is only fair to you to supply a training blog (since you have yours)......only I will just post a link to my blog on this thread since you already have your famous blog here on this discussion board. I will set up an account on yahoo groups for it later today and then leave a link to it here soon after. I just got back in the water today after being out since last Saturday when I worked out with Emmit Hines' team in Houston. I couldn't find a YMCA close enough to where we were staying when we were visiting Susan's mother and step father in La (just outside of Shreveport).....we stayed in La for a few days after leaving Houston. I felt a little lethargic today in practice as a result. My nearest goal for the 500 will be at the Alumni meet for SMSU on October 29th.....I am going to ask the coach if he will let me swim the 500 free as an exhibition swim during the team's Marroon and White intrasquad meet that is held in conjunction with the Alumni meet. I want to try and get as close to 5:00 as possible (taking into consideration your 4:58 during the middle of last season).....it will be the first real measuring stick for seeing where I am in comparison to you before Christmas. Are you swimming any 500's in the near future? Newmastersswimmer
