Hi, Sonic here.
I'd like to share with you my experience at my first swim meet.
I was truly excited for this event, so I made sure to get a lot of rest, so that I could be up by 5:00 am Saturday Morning. When I got up, I made sure to double-check my swim bag to see if I missed anything the night before and I suited up and had my bowl of Cereal and Orange Juice.
When I got to the pool, I was the first one there, it was closed and I was a little worried that I might've missed some last minute information, but thankfully, I wasn't misinformed.
about twenty minutes later, two of my teammates arrived, and a few of the meet's sponsors arrived as well, and I entered the facility with awe and enthuseasm.
It was great! After paying the sponsors and dressing down for the meet, evreything was in full swing, the swimmers were all ready and prepped for the big event. I warmed up and felt like king of the world.
I swam all six of my events, 100 ***, 200 ***, 25 Free, 50 Free, 25, ***, and a 50 ***. I had a parsonal best on my 25 ***, coming in at just 32 seconds! Best part was I wasn't disqualified for ANYTHING!! At the end of the meet, I came home with SIX Gold Medals!
All I can say now is that I love Masters Swimming a lot more now than I did when I first joined in June '04.
I was once told that you are a champion when you've entered the arena.
How was your first swim meet like, were you nervous? Were you overjoyed with the awards you received for the events you participated in? I know I was, and know what? This will not be the last meet I ever participate in.
Sonic
Yes, Karen, there were some 25 Yd. Events and like Gull80 posted, yes some Masters Meets have 25's in their meets, and to answer your last question, yes this is all true because I attended my first meet on Saturday. I only did the 25's for fun, I did get serious with the 100 and 200 Yd. ***. I need to think of where to hang my gold medals now!
And thanks to all for Congratulating me.
Sonic,
I'm not sure how to ask this, but I'll do my best: are you relaying a true experience? Just curious. The 25 yard events threw me a little bit. Or am I just missing sarcasm?
