There is a wonderful article on Swininfo about Marin Morrison. She is a 14 year old swimmer that I have had the priviledge to coach on the Collins Hill High School team. She is truly an inspiration to all that meet her.
She was diagnosed last year with a brain tumor. She had the tumor removed and was SWIMMING AGAIN IN 3 WEEKS! Nothing gets this girl down. She has one of the most positive can-do attitudes I've ever seen!
Unfortunately her tumor has grown back. She has had to endure another surgery and is recovering in the hospital now. She is suffering with right side paralysis and numbness which we all hope and pray is temporary.
Now for my selfish plea.....
Please go to swiminfo.com and read her story. Follow the link and post a message for Marin on her caringbridge website (a wonderful website devoted to keeping friends and family posted on the patient's progress). Her guestbook is impressive with posts from swimmers of all levels from all over the world. I would love for Masters swimmers to bombard her site with well wishes and prayers.
Please spread the word and keep Marin and her family in your prayers. Pass this story on to others too. She needs us to show her that swimming is one big family that will support her every step of the way in her recovery.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart!,

Here is the latest on Marin. She remains paralyzed on her right side. Hopefully, this is temporary. We are all hoping and praying it is. After you read today's post, you will see why I ask you to leave her a message.......

Hi everyone,
It's been one week since her latest surgery, and this Monday was back to work day for Marin here at Scottish Rite. Feeling much better than she did Sunday, she went through her many sessions of rehab and while she may not be making a fast physical recovery, she is making progress. Right now she's learning to function with her right arm and leg paralyzed... getting dressed, tying shoes, moving from bed to a wheel chair... all huge challenges when half her body just won't function. Marin is facing her difficulties with great courage and is giving her best effort when attempting to stand and walk in a walker. She's not able to move or sense touch on her right side but she seems to be more and more sensitive to her muscles when we stretch. She is able to press with her right hip and upper right leg and the strength in that area has improved since we first noticed movement a couple days ago, so that's encouraging. Her smile is also returning to her right side more than it was last week. Marin's attitude remains positive but she struggles with sadness at various points during the day. One sure way to cheer her up is when we read the messages on her guestbook to her. Thank you to all of you who continue to pray and take the time to write uplifting messages... your loving contributions are definitely having a positive affect and we appreciate this deeply.
