Subject: Casting Call for Swimmers.....
I thought you would be the best person to be able to distribute this to
those who might be interested. I received it from the USA Diving National
office and they asked us to pass it on.

MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING KEVIN COSTNER & ASHTON KUTCHER IS SEEKING MALE AND FEMALE SWIMMERS
To portray rescue swimmers in the United States Coast Guard
(Wilmington, NC) Fincannon & Associates Casting Company announced today that
they are casting the upcoming Touchstone Pictures/Beacon Pictures film
starring Kevin Costner & Ashton Kutcher entitled "The Guardian". The film will
be directed by Andrew Davis ("Holes" and "The Fugitive") and will shoot in New
Orleans beginning November 14, 2005 and film through February 2006.
The film documents the intensive training process of US Coast Guard rescue
swimmers and their personal and physical sacrifices required of the job.
Therefore, they are looking to cast excellent swimmers to portray
student/candidates of the "A" school for the Coast Guard Rescue School. The
swimmers cast for these speaking roles will begin training in Late September
and October. These swimmers will be part of an ensemble cast that will work
throughout the production.
"We are looking for competitive swimmers of any ethnicity who would be
comfortable in challenging ocean conditions...including retired Navy Seals,
athletes, and those who compete in Water Polo, Diving, Crew, Triathlons, or
are Certified Life Guards." Said Casting Directors Mark & Lisa Mae Fincannon.
"Most candidates of the "A" school are in their early to mid 20's and the
requirements for these roles will be as grueling as entering in the "A" school
itself." They added. All candidates must be able to handle crisis situations
in the water and be available throughout the duration of the training and
filming.
If you think you have what it takes, the Fincannon's will be doing
interview/auditions throughout the Southeastern United States during the week
of August 16-19, 2005 in New Orleans, LA.
If interested, contact the Fincannon's via email at Fincannon@aol.com with
your name, phone number and photo (if possible) and you will be contacted
about location and time for interview.
***Please note any one participating or planning on participating in sports at
the collegiate level may NOT want to respond as any payment for acting in this
movie WILL compromise your NCAA standing.

I wasn't aware there was a lot of swimming in crew (or triathlons for that matter).
Why did they omit synchronized swimming?
Oddly, you might not think it but here hear the mighty Mississippi, many people who do crew are also or were swimmers. I'd like to mention that at Nationals, a boy from the Quad Cities won Jrs. Also, many of the girls get major scholarships to inportant rowing universities. Rowers & swimmers are built very much alike. rowing is a great for crosstraining for swimmign. Get on a stationary rowing machine in your favorite gym 7 find out. One bad thing, since most rowing paid for over the computer, it has gotten more expensive. I hope people at USMS think about that when they are switching to computer sign-ups.
