A convulsion or a spasm?

Yesterday I was swimming during public laps & during a break an elderly lady who often displays curiousity about my training asked me if I was alright. "Yes" I said "Why do you ask?" "Well, it appeared to me that you had experienced a convulsion, or a spasm while you were doing your breastroke...". It took a second, but I realized that she must be referring to me attempting to insert a dolphin kick into my breastroke pullout. Before you butterfliers flash your toothy grins at such a description of my admittedly inept kick, stick with me. I explained that they were changing the rules & was just trying to stay with the times (in both senses). She told me that going fast wasn't everything & I should consider the spiritual aspects of the stroke & that my normal breastroke was "so beautiful" (I hope in a rugged, manly way) & I shouldn't "pollute" it with something drawn from "the Ugliest Stroke in all Creation" a stroke that reflected an unquiet mind at the very least & at worst a great deal of unresolved anger. Now I admit that she is judging butterfly from what she occasionally sees during lap swimming, but otherwise, I thought she had it just about right.
