I'm from a running and cycling back ground. I'm accustom to doing base endurance training to prepare for the coming seasons regarding those two sports.
Does anyone has a rule of thumb for how much base endurance time/yardage one should do before introducing higher intensity work?
Can anyone give me good periodization schedule to follow for a yearly basis? I want to peak for Michigan's state meet in april 2006, than again for the FINA masters in Aug 2006.
I plan on spending a good 4-6 weeks strictly on stroke refinement, since I recently purchased a TI book and realized I need some adjustments.
I guess in general how do people break up there training throughout the year?
What events are you training for?
strokes and distances?
How many yards do you plan on doing a practice?
What type of taper works best for you?
What is your current ability level?
25 time
100 time
200 time
what interval can you hold 10 x 100 on (taking 3 - 5 seconds rest after each 100)
as a general suggestion
1. Spend a month doing drills and getting in shape
2. Gradually increase your yardage and intensity after that
3. Rest 1 - 3 weeks for your competition in April
after the april meet start training again for your FINA in Aug
you won't need to take a month to ramp back up
maybe 2 - 3 weeks
