Are Triathletes worth the dues they pay toward Masters Swimming?
I say we force all Triathletes to spend one day a week in the sprint lane, one day a week doing stroke (i.e. IM) work, and then make them focus on their starts and turns.
This invasion needs to be controlled.... :-)

George, or maybe you would find a freestyle only coach/workout? Seems counterproductive to me to suggest that people wanting to swim all four strokes go somewhere else. Swimming all four strokes is a good thing because it taxes other muscle groups/aerobic capability. Just my 2 lempiras worth.
I'm an "only freestyler" now but I am not superior enough to suggest others go elsewhere. And now that I am in Texas for awhile, I have a much bigger problem: finding a pool that isn't over 88 degrees!
You read what I said wrong. I am saying if the coach is not a real coach and does not plan his coaching around all of his swimmers wants, dislikes, an abilities he is not a coach. I have run in to this type of coach and to me they are really not coaching or teaching. They know all of the terminogly and follow a book made up by someone on the internet. You can get in shape with these so called coaches but you will never learn any thing from them.
Swimming is more then swimming set down unflexable workouts. Reason I don't swim on a masters team.
They want everyone to swim drills never any stroke correction they believe drills solve any problems. Swimmers do drills wrong to get any benifit from drills.
They want swimmers who can not do breaststroke to do breaststroke. My knees have given me trouble since I was a teen. I have two knew knees and if I do more then a few actual kicks it is hospital for me. I can actually do a great demonstration kick but if I apply power the both knees blow up.
These coaches want me to do backstroke, I have told everyone my problem there - I just happen to get very seasick when I swim on my back.
Butterfly they want me to workout too hard on fly. I only did 25s and 50s when I practiced fly. I was close to 1 min for the hundred meters during the development years for fly in 1956, 57, 58. Why would I want to do more then that now.
