Triathletes

Are Triathletes worth the dues they pay toward Masters Swimming? I say we force all Triathletes to spend one day a week in the sprint lane, one day a week doing stroke (i.e. IM) work, and then make them focus on their starts and turns. This invasion needs to be controlled.... :-) John Smith :)

When triathletes sneer at real swimmers -- and they do -- I find it vaguely offensive. Mutual respect would be preferable. That's funny. Back when I decided to start swimming to lose some weight, I was going to a community lake to swim laps in the swim area. There was a group there on a regular basis with full body suits, fancy goggles and funny looking snorkles. And of course, there I was overweight, wearing red board shorts and an old pair of goggles (goofy green ones!). Needless to say they weren't very friendly towards me. After about a month of getting the cold shoulder I joined a masters team. As for the tri's on our master's team...I suppose they are there, but they don't swim in my lane. Kevin
